Prednisone Tablets
Prednisone is a synthetic corticosteroid drug that is particularly effective as an immunosuppressant drug. It is used to treat certain inflammatory diseases and (at higher doses) some types of cancer, but has significant adverse effects.
Prednisone Tablets are indicated for endocrine disorders (thyroiditis, congenital adrenal hyperplasia); rheumatic disorders (psoriatic arthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, acute gouty arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, epicondylitis); collagen diseases (polymyositis, systemic lupus erythatosus); dermatologic diseases (pemphigus, severe psoriasis, seborrheic dermatitis); allergic states (bronchial asthma, allergic rhinitis); ophthalmic diseases (allergic conjunctivitis, keratitis, herpes zoster);respiratory diseases, hematologic disorders, neoplastic diseases, edematous states, gastrointestinal diseases, and acute exacerbations of the multiple sclerosis.
Prednisone is used as an antitumor drug. Prednisone is very important in the treatment of acute lymphoblastic leukemia, Non-Hodgkin lymphomas, Hodgkins lymphoma, multiple myeloma and other hormone-sensitive tumors, in combination with other anticancer drugs.
