Gentamicin Sulfate Injection
Gentamicin is an aminoglycoside antibiotic used to treat many types of bacterial infections. Gentamicin is used in the treatment of serious infections caused by susceptible strains of the following microorganisms: P. aeruginosa, Proteus species, E. coli, K. pneumoniae, E. aerogenes, S. marcescens, Staphylococcus species (including penicillin and methicillin-resistant strains).
Gentamicin may be considered for the treatment of bacteremia, respiratory tract infections, urinary tract infections, infected wounds: surgical and traumatic, soft tissue infections, including peritonitis and burns complicated by sepsis, and bone infections.
Gentamicin injection should be considered for initial antimicrobial therapy in suspected or documented gram-negative septicemia, particularly when shock or hypotension are present.
