Betamethasone Sodium Phosphate Injection
Betamethasone is a glucocorticoid steroid with anti-inflammatory,antiasthmatic and immunosuppressive properties. Unlike other drugs with these effects, betamethasone does not cause water retention. Betamethasone sodium phosphate is sometimes prescribed as an intramuscular injection (I.M) for itching from various ailments including allergic reactions to poison ivy and similar plants.
Betamethasone is also used in conjunction with antihistamines to reduce irritation. Betamethasone Sodium Phosphate Injection stabilizes lysosomal neutrophils and prevents their degranulation, inhibits synthesis of lipoxygenase products and prostaglandins, activates anti-inflammatory genes, and inhibits various cytokines.
