Ampicillin Sodium belongs to the penicillin group of beta-lactam antibiotics. Ampicillin is used to treat a wide variety of bacterial infections. It works by stopping the growth of bacteria.
Ampicillin Sodium is used to treat respiratory tract, skin, and soft-tissue infections caused by Haemophilusinfluenzae, staphylococci, and streptococci. It also fights bacterial meningitis caused by Neisseria meningitidis, Escherichia coli, group B streptococci, or Listeria monocytogenes.
Ampicillin Sodium is also a treatment for GI or urinary tract infections (UTI) and endocarditis prophylaxis for dental, oral, or upper respiratory tract procedures.
