Artemisinin + Piperaquine Tablets
Artemisinin and its derivatives are a group of drugs that possess the most rapid action of all current drugs against falciparum malaria. Artemisinin is also increasingly being used in vivax malaria[2] as well as being a topic of research in cancer treatment.
Piperaquine is an antimalarial drug. Piperaquine is characterized by slow absorption and a long biological half-life, making it a good partner drug with artemisinin derivatives which are fast acting but have a short biological half-life.
Artemether has been shown to have significant anticancer and antitumor activities in patients with advanced and metastatic cancer.
Treatments containing an artemisinin derivative (artemisinin-combination therapies, ACTs) are now standard treatment worldwide for falciparummalaria.
