Loperamide HCL Capsules
Loperamide HCL Capsules are indicated for the control and symptomatic relief of acute nonspecific diarrhea and of chronic diarrhea. This medication is used to treat sudden diarrhea (including travelers diarrhea).
Loperamide is also used to reduce the amount of discharge in people who have an ileostomy (re-routing of the bowel through a surgical opening in the stomach), gastroenteritis, or inflammatory bowel disease.
Loperamide slows the rhythm of digestion so that the small intestines have more time to absorb fluid and nutrients from the foods you eat. It also decreases colonic mass movements and suppresses the gastrocolic reflex.
